4th of July Fun Fact:
Fireworks have always been key in celebrating our country’s Independence on the 4th of July, but why?
Since before the first 4th of July celebration – and even before the American Revolution, fireworks were used to celebrate special occasions. However, John Adams had it especially in the works for this holiday! On July 3, 1776, Adams wrote a letter to his wife, Abigail that the occasion should be celebrated, “with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.” And on July 4th, 1777, the first commemorative Independence Day fireworks were set off in Philadelphia.
As we recognize this holiday, let us remember all those who have fought for our freedoms, those who, against all odds, fight to live their American Dream, and how lucky we are for the communities and people we love most.
Happy 4th of July from ours to yours! Be safe and cherish the time with your families!
