New 50% Tariffs Take Effect on Certain Canadian Goods

The U.S. and Canada did not reach a final deal by August 22, 2026, and the President triggered 50% tariffs under Section 338 on goods including wine, dairy, cement, clothing, and hockey equipment. In retaliation, Canada is matching the 50% tariffs on steel, dairy, appliances, and electronics. There are currently no indications of further talks.
