CVI is deeply saddened by the news of Lee Vanderberry’s passing earlier this week and our thoughts rest with the Vanderberry family. Lee will forever hold a place in the heart of our company. He is the “V” in our name and the first half of our history.

A born native of Norfolk, Va., Lee Vanderberry served as president of three corporations in international freight forwarding: E.L. Vanderberry Co., Inc., Port Delivery Service and CV International, Inc.

E.L. Vanderberry was founded in 1966. The company was a respected customhouse broker in the Port of Virginia, and operated primarily as an import broker. Lee and his wife Elizabeth Vanderberry, along with Wayne and his wife, Judy Coleman, formed a partnership that led to the merger of E.L. Vanderberry & Co. with Coleman International in 1991. After serving six years as president of CV International, Inc., Lee retired from the industry.

Lee was a dedicated supporter and leader in the maritime community as an active member of the Propeller Club and the Foreign Commerce Club.

Lee was also an active member of his church and served as President of the Marlin Club and Commodore of the Virginia Beach Yacht Club. Lee was especially proud to serve as Charter Board Member of CANDII (Children’s Aids Networks Designed for Interfaith Involvement).

Although many years have passed since his last day as president of CV International, we are grateful to have worked alongside Lee and his wife, Elizabeth. We will remember his deep-rooted legacy throughout our operations as CVI.

Edward Lee Vanderberry (December 12, 1936 – April 16, 2019)
