UPDATE: Potential LA/Long Beach Port Strike Delayed to Midnight Friday, November 6

As contract negotiations continue, the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) and ILWU Local 26 have again agreed to delay the potential strike at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The new deadline is midnight Pacific Time on Friday, November 6.

Negotiations will resume Friday with assistance from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. A new contract has not yet been reached.

As reported by the Journal of Commerce, PMA warned that a strike “would put at risk operations at terminals that handle more than half of the cargo in the port complex.” A work stoppage could disrupt cargo movement during the remaining holiday shipping season.

CV International is monitoring developments and will provide updates as more information becomes available. Please contact your CVI representative with questions about your shipments.
